Symptoms

On August 22, 2002 Microsoft released a patch for Internet Explorer that prevents Internet Explorer from loading the eWebEditPro editor client properly.

Client systems with this problem experience an eWebEditPro window frozen in a half-loaded state when a page with the editor embedded in it is viewed and the browser may crash when the editor is manipulated through the user interface or by a script.

This problem does not affect:

  • eWebEditPro 2.x when used with Netscape
  • eWebEditPro 1.8

Cause

The MS02-047: August 22, 2002, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer  disabled parts of the internal Microsoft API used by the editor.

Resolution

Just released is a new version of the editor component that resolves the problems introduced by the IE patch. The new version may be used to patch older versions of eWebEditPro.

If you have eWebEditPro 2.6.0.4 or older, you may download the patch. Newer versions already have the patch included.  Click here   for more information and download that patch.
